R: 1. Bc3-c2
hj: Position seems illegal: -1... c3 -2.c2xb3 and sK is stuck on c1. Incorrect diagram? (2004-1-12)
gw: The correct position is probably with wPc2 and bPa2 (last move Pa3-a2). Sometimes problems of this kind are reprinted with reversed colours. I don't know what the original position is. (2004-1-13)
AB: The Retro Corner representation of this position has different colours for kings & rook. That works. (2007-3-8)
mri: Die Schwalbe, Heft 43 (Feb.1977), p.2 gives the position as follows: White: Kf8 Ph7 Black: Kh8 Re7 Pd7 Pe6 Pf7 Pg7 Pg6; last move: Ph6-h7 (2007-3-9)

Schlagfälle: d7xLc7, a2xLb3, h2xLg3, e2xDf3. Schwarz kann nicht rochieren, da der sK die sD im Retrospiel nach d8 zurücklassen muß. Weiß kann noch rochieren.
hj: The stipulation should be 'h#1 (who?)' I think. 1.0-0-0 Sxb3#, not 0... 0-0? 1.Txg7. Black may not castle, because orig. Lc8 or Dd8 has passed e8. (2004-1-26)

1. Ta8! 0-0?
hj: The position is illegal. After retracting a wT to h1, a sT to g1, g2-g1=T, f3xLg2, Lf1-g2, g2-g3, wK to e1, and wL to c1, we still cannot retract b2-b3, because then the wD cannot get home. Was this intended? (2004-1-26)
Joost: Black can of course retract b6xQc5 anytime before. (2004-2-2)
Joost: Oops. Sorry. He can't of course. (2004-2-2)
AV: Oui, l'illégalité était intentionnelle. Et la première version était démolie (c'est-à-dire légale !). Un grand-maître du rétro a du mal à créer des positions illégales, même pour s'amuser ! (2005-5-28)

Mario Richter: wBh5 is a promoted bishop, wPa2-e/g8 and white double-pawns e2/e5+g2/g6 require the capture of all missing black men. To be available as a capture object, one of the missing black pawns f7 or h7 either captured the wQ or promoted on f1 or h1, in each case destroying White's ability to castle. (2010-7-14)

Alfred Pfeiffer: Was ist das für eine seltsame Forderung?
Was bedeutet "Typ Taylor"? (2009-10-23)
Henrik Juel: The stipulation stands for series-self-retro-stalemate, I think: White retracts 29 moves (no uncaptures) (in a series without Black intervention) to reach a position where White retractions are no longer possible (except uncaptures). The Taylor type may refer to the no uncapture rule. (2009-10-23)
